Lowering the Center of Gravity
GONG’s 2026 board lineup, particularly the "midlength" Cruzader models (e.g., 6'2" / 95L), features a deep recessed deck. This design lowers the rider's center of gravity by approximately 2 cm compared to a flat deck. This small change improves the rider's ability to apply pressure to the foil by 20% in choppy water.
Stability and Pump
The lowered stance increases stability for 70 to 90 kg riders, making the board feel less "tippy" in rough seas. The longer, narrower shape combined with the rigid connection makes pumping onto the foil 15% easier in light 8 to 14-knot winds.
While the narrower 28-inch width requires practice, the flat bottom shape helps the board glide 10% farther during touchdowns. GONG team riders have praised the boards for their easy take-off, performance in various wind conditions, and enhanced comfort during sessions, describing the recessed deck as making the board "much more stable."
Wingers and Offset Stance
The "aircraft carrier" outline featuring wingers allows for greater offset in stance, offering more comfort and versatility. This design provides increased space for the back foot, aiding in carving and accommodating foils with large spans, while maintaining a super narrow hull for exceptional glide.
The Cruzader range includes several models: the Cruzader Squash blends compactness with glide for surf/freefly and freeride, the Cruzader Point is surf-oriented with incredible glide, the Cruzader Point LW is designed for light wind conditions, and the Cruzader Diamond combines downwind glide with compact board qualities.
